North Station continued Development

It looks like the North Station/West End area development is going to continue. Recently Archstones new project was a huge success and the currently under construction Victor right next door is an indicator of things to come.  There are only a few remaining parcels in the area  and it looks like Boston Properties is leading the charge to get the area really feeling like a neighborhood again.  Here is a quick blurb from today’s Bisnow update:

“Delaware North and Boston Properties are in early stage planning of what could be a 1.3M SF mixed-use project adjacent to the TD Garden. Bisnow learned that the BRA expects Phase I to have large scale retail (possibly including a Target and a Stop & Shop) and sees it as a “crown jewel” creating a new streetscape and gateway to a neighborhood undergoing intensive development.  The project still needs city approval but won a green light from the state in 1989. A generation in the works, it was delayed by the Big Dig and the Great Recession.”

I think there are few key take aways and points to make here. 1. Boston Properties has typically been an office based REIT however their recent success with their lofts at Atlantic Wharf just down the road has obviously given them a taste of the potential in mixed use/multifamily housing and they are going back for more. 2. I respect these guys greatly and know they have massive resourses and brain power behind them; if they are just starting to get involved in a housing project that will break ground in 3+ years that makes me even more bullish on the Boston multifamily market. 3. The West End/North Station area has huge potential and this development will be a huge help to tie it into the North End.  The Strada office/condo building is basically on an island and with BP’s new project, The Victor, and hopefully a few more infill

Refinements look GREAT! love the new flat look of the theme! One suggestion… – In the wrench toolbar button, &#&s9Extension93#3;; are buried within 'Tools'. To me it seems like it would make a lot of sense to put 'Extensions' above 'Bookmarks Manager' on the main menu of the wrench.
